Okay, everyone knows by now what happened last game and that's over and done with. The Cs' loss is all everyone's talking about and frankly, we're acting like this series is already over. Well, I say it's a new day. The Celts tasted losing and you know they don't want to feel that again, so I believe that the loss was a major eye-opener as well as a major motivator and now see how badly every team wants to beat the defending champs!!

I love Alabama Crimson Tide Football. I love everything about the program, the proud heritage and the lifestyle. The stone fisted blows struck by Paul “Bear” Bryant still echo through every acre of Tuscaloosa to this day. You would be hard pressed to find a school, a town, or a culture that loves their team more than the University of Alabama.

OK, I get it. Everyone in America hates the Patriots.
To a certain extent, I understand it. They have a recent history of domination, they were found guilty of a rather offensive crime, their coach isn't particularly pleasant, and the players offer little in the way of entertaining soundbites. The hatred has grown to the point that fans all around the country celebrated when Tom Brady went down with injury, noting - whether out loud or to themselves - that it was about time something bad happened to the Pats.

When Terry Francona calls the bullpen these days, he may hear this recording: “Thank you for calling the Red Sox Bullpen. If you want a pitcher to walk the next batter, press 1. If you want a pitcher to give up two hits in a row, press 2. If you want a pitcher to face the next four batters without recording an out, press 3. If you want a pitcher who can pitch the 8thinning without giving up a run, please hang up and call the General Manager’s office and put in your request. For guaranteed outs, please call 1-800-Papelbon.”

The sox can tie Tampa for the lead in the AL East tonight as Beckett takes the mound, going for his 6th win. Ortiz is on the 15 DL with a torn ECU tendon-- known as the extensor carpi ulnaris to us science geeks. Theo & Francona are in agreement that surgery wont be necessary; we'll wait and see if the Vader-like cast will do the trick. JD Drew was the offensive star of last night's win, going 2 for 3 along with Coco Crisp's off the wall tie breaking double. Dice-K's replacement Justin Masterson allowed four runs on six hits in six innings-- he's 2-0 with a The Rays are 0-4 at Fenway Park this season; 65-88 since their inaugural season 10 years ago. They'll return for a final 3 game series in September following tomorrow nights game.

Could it be the federal indictment on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice hanging over his head? The balky knees? The fact that he needs multiple days off and can seldom play back-to-back days just to stay healthy? The bloated entourage? The gloomy clubhouse presence and white-hot media lights he brings? The fact that he's 43 years old?

If you're using the fact that Spring Training begins less than two weeks from now as a way to get over that catastrophe of a football game last Sunday, I'm with you.
Pitchers and catchers voluntary report date is Valentine's day (awww), and it is a day that will hopefully help to mend the many broken hearts that the Giants walked all over. No, Johan Santana will not be in the Sox rotation. No, A-rod didn't defect. Thank God.
