Retired Dominican striker David Ortiz hinted Monday that there is a chance that he will return to the Red Sox in a role still to be defined.
Ortiz and the Red Sox are in negotiations on the future role that the former designated hitter would have with the team. This is what Big Papi himself said during a charity event in Manhattan.
“We’ve been in talks, but so far there’s nothing concrete,” Ortiz said of the talks. “We are in constant communication. Something is going to come to fruition, I consider myself part of that organization.”
When asked if his potential role would be within the board or in the dugout, Ortiz declined to give details.
“I’ll let you know later,” he replied.
