Emerging Ty Kelly double-fired the only run in the eighth inning of the pitcher duel between Philadelphia’s Nick Pivetta and Chris Sale of Boston for the Phillies to beat the Red Sox 1-0 on Thursday.

(8-3) dominated at pleasure until Andrew Knapp hit a single with an out, serving the table for Kelly to give the unstoppable one that served to stop the Phillies’ eight-game losing streak.

Kelly connected a line that sent the ball to the corner of the left field and Knapp scored from the first.

Sale tolerated four hits with 10 strikeouts, raising his total in the campaign to 136, the highest in the majors.

It was the 44th game of his career with double digits in strikeouts and the ninth this season. Pat Neshek (2-1) hung up a Pivetta reliever and Hector Neris credited his sixth salvo in seven attempts to take the ninth inning.
