The Boston Red Sox, with Chris Sale on the mound, will seek to win their first game of this series against the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park, starting at 7:10 p.m. ET. Alec Asher will be the opener for the oropendolas.

Sale has been intractable in his first outings with his new team, is second in effectiveness of the American League, but has not received support from his offensive. The left-hander has worked 37.2 innings and his teammates have made just four runs.

Asher, who is replacing the injured Chris Tillman in the rotation, will make just his second start of the season. The 25-year-old right has also worked as a reliever and has 2.16 of effectiveness in 8.1 chapters worked.

Boston is 3.5 games away from the Orioles, who are the leaders of the AL East.

– The Red Sox’s only pitcher in the last 30 years to have less offensive endorsement than Sale in his first five starts was Jeff Sellers in 1988 when his teammates scored only three times.

-Asher will make the second start of his career at Fenway Park and will seek better luck. In 2015 he allowed seven runs in 3.2 innings defending the Phillies’ uniform.
